Don’t Forget Your Contingent Beneficiaries

Each fall we remind clients to review their retirement account beneficiaries—and their contingent beneficiaries. If you have a friend who handles the investments by themselves, you could forward this reminder to them, and they can call us with any questions.

The key is to name a contingent beneficiary in the first place. Many people forget to name a backup, and as time passes, that omission can cause unnecessary complications. In some cases, assets can be tied up in probate simply because a trust or next-generation name wasn’t added.

Other key topics to consider before the holidays consume us are:

Big changes are coming to Medicare in 2026—and the decisions you make during this year’s open enrollment (starting October 15) will directly shape your coverage and costs. Things to consider:

  • How Medicare prescription drug price negotiations might affect what you pay.
  • New cost caps and what they could mean for your budget.
  • Rising premiums and what to expect for 2026.
  • Updates to Advantage plans and how to compare your options.

We can help you:

  • Understand important Medicare changes for 2026.
  • Learn how these changes could impact your coverage and out-of-pocket costs.
  • Gain a framework for evaluating plans during open enrollment.
  • Make Informed Medicare decisions for yourself or your loved ones.

Please email or call us with any questions you may have, we are honored to serve our clients and community and appreciate how powerful being financially prepared can be in retirement or when you are thinking about it.
